Speed Factor is a new pixel art arcade racer from one of our favourite publishers, Ratalaika Games. The game, developed by lightUP, is out now on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, priced at $4.99. From the trailer, this seems to have a lot in common with many of the great arcade racers of old; we especially get some Buggy Run vibes from it.
Inspired by 80s and 90s classics, Speed Factor is an old-school racing game with pixelated graphics, arcade driving style, exhilarating punk rock music, and some awesome classic cars. Players can customize the difficulty level and traction assist level to their personal tastes to make the game as easy or challenging as they want.
They’ll also be able to cruise through 50 different tracks spread across five locations. As players win races, they’ll earn money to level up and improve their ride with what looks like many options. Speed Factor is another example of Ratalaika Games keeping the spirit of retro alive and giving smaller development teams a chance to reach wider audiences.
