Super Football Tactics Pro is a new pixel art management game that uses elements from traditional checkers alongside American Football gameplay. It’s out now on Steam, priced at $7.99, and has been developed by Sparkling Vinegar and published by Tiny Dragon.
Each match in Super Football Tactics Pro is divided into the traditional four quarters. In the first, standard checkers rules apply with diagonal moves. Forced jumps (tackles in this game). Kings. If players learned checkers on a kitchen table at seven years old, they already know how to play half of this. In the second quarter, players’ll be either playing attack or defense. If the former, they’re trying to get the ball to the other end of the board, but can only get one forward pass per game. If the ball carrier gets tackled, it’s game over.
Going into the third quarter of Super Football Tactics Pro matches, special teams come into play, which can flip a match on its head. These match-flipping abilities turn a losing board into a winning one in a single turn. Players will charge through story mode to unlock new special abilities as they climb their way up the leagues. In the final quarter, story elements come into play that add humour and bring the matches, players, and coaches to life.
