New SNES Blaster Super Storm Buster Announced

Super Storm Buster is a new SNES shmup announced by retro publisher PixelHeart. The side-scrolling shooter will be launched via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter at a later date. Currently, the developer is asking interested gamers to register their interest by wishlisting the project on the Kickstarter page. Once funded, the game will be released in European, American, and Japanese versions so that it will fit neatly into any SNES fan’s collection.

In a press statement, PixelHeart said. “Super Storm Buster is a space shoot’em up developed specifically for the SNES, staying true to the spirit of classic 16-bit shooters while pushing the hardware in its own way. The game’s core strength lies in its ability to display a very high number of projectiles on screen at the same time, a real technical challenge on SNES hardware. Gameplay focuses on positioning, space control, and reading dense bullet patterns rather than fast-paced reflex action.”

Key features in Super Storm Buster:

Projectile-heavy stages that push the SNES to its limits

Massive bosses take up a large portion of the screen

A dark science-fiction atmosphere centered on the survival of a besieged city

A design approach that respects the technical constraints and characteristics of the SNES
