Super Yooka-Laylee Kart is a new Mario Kart-inspired arcade racer from developer Playtonic. It’s set in the universe of the developer’s classic platformer Yooka-Laylee, of which the latest entry we reviewed, and is currently running a playtest on Steam. Keen racers looking to try the game out can join the playtest via the game’s Steam page.
Running for one week, this initial playtest is focused on Time Trials, giving players their first opportunity to experience the game’s unique mechanics, master each circuit, and compete for the fastest lap times. Most importantly, Playtonic is asking every participant to share their thoughts. An in-game feedback survey is included with the playtest, allowing players to provide valuable feedback that will help shape future updates and upcoming playtests.
To help racers get started, Playtonic has also released a brand new Tips & Tricks video, introducing the core mechanics and advanced techniques that set Super Yooka-Laylee Kart apart. The video covers everything from perfect race starts and Speed Pad chaining to mastering drift boosts and selecting the right character for each track.
