The Alpha is a new game for the NES and Famicom set for release in October 2025. Developer Yī tái yóuxì Software Company (ITG.Soft) has set up a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to secure funds for producing the physical carts of the game. The game has digital, physical, and special editions for both NES and Famicom gamers. The carts will be compatible with 72-pin NES and 60-pin Famicom slots.
There will also be a release of the game’s soundtrack, composed by R-SEN Productions Music & SFX, who won best music for Echoes of Elysium: Descent in the NESmaker Byte Off V. A special chiptune soundtrack on cart, that essentially turns your NES into a jukebox, will be available in some tiers of the campaign.
Also, the story is as about as 8-bit as you’ll likely to find. It features two brothers who were knocked out by tranquilizer darts and find themselves embroiled in an escape from a laboratory where both have been genetically altered to become animals that they can shapeshift to and from. They now must uncover the truth about the evil organisation and stop its plans once and for all.
