A new 2D platformer called “The Legend of Santa” is generating buzz for its striking similarities to the classic Nintendo game Super Mario Bros. 3, albeit with a Christmas-themed twist. Set to launch on the Nintendo Switch eShop on October 28, 2024, this game appears to be a festive reimagining of the beloved Mario title.
Gameplay and Features
The Legend of Santa borrows heavily from Super Mario Bros. 3’s mechanics:
- Players control Santa through Christmas-themed levels
- Gameplay involves jumping on enemies and punching blocks
- A coal-shooting power-up is available, reminiscent of Mario’s fire flower
Despite its obvious inspiration, early Steam reviews suggest that the game is actually quite enjoyable.
