We’ve been following the release of TheA1200, and now Retro Games Ltd, the company behind many great 8-bit mini computer releases in recent years, has announced that production delays have hit the system. According to a press statement released earlier today, TheA1200 will now be shipped to customers on December 4th, 2026. The reason for the delay is a lack of chips around the globe, which is affecting most tech industries at present.
The statement also mentioned that, while the physical build of TheA1200 has been finalised, from boards to plastic, there is still some software fine-tuning to be resolved. Retro Games Ltd has said they wish to bring the best Amiga experience to its customers and didn’t want to rush the product out with a basic operating system.
The delay to TheA1200 will come as a disappointment to many, but this may be a silver lining that will result in a better product overall. There will also be a Q&A document released in the near future that will cover any pre-order queries and other additional details. The one good thing about the delay is that this may well now be the best Christmas present retro gamers could get, and may become a main present under the tree.
