Time Crisis Blasting Onto Modern TV But Needs Funding

Time Crisis and Point Blank, two of Namco’s popular 1990s lightgun arcade shooters, could be set to shoot their way onto modern TVs, thanks to a new plug and play lightgun called G’aim’e.

As you probably know, because of the way traditional console lightguns worked, they are only compatible with CRT TVs, and not with modern LCD TVs.

G’aim’e, however, uses a combination of a high-resolution camera and AI, making it compatible with LCD TVs. As an aside, could this be the first positive use of AI, like, ever?!

G’aim’e is being made by Tassei Denki, who have licensed several games from Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc, including Time Crisis and Point Blank, as well as Steel Gunner and Steel Gunner 2, two arcade light gun games that were released by 00 in 1990 and 1992 respectively. Steel Gunner was Namco’s very first lightgun game.

A Kickstarter campaign to fund production of G’aim’e is due to launch at 12 noon EST on June 24th, but you can register your interest in the project on Kickstarter now.

Backers of G’aim’e on Kickstarter will also receive an  exclusive keychain featuring G’aim’e and Time Crisis, and early backers will also receive a discount of over 4,00 yen.
