Worms Worms its Way into July’s Evercade Highlight of the Month

Worms has been released as the Evercade Highlight of the Month for July, which means that if Evercade VS, Evercade EXP and Evercade Alpha owners update their system software they’ll get to play Team 17’s combat classic as much as they like, until they update the system software again.

The version of Worms offered as the Evercade Highlight of the Month is the1995 Mega Drive/Genesis version of the game, which was released following the enormous success of the game on the Commodore Amiga that same year.

The Evercade Highlight of Month program makes games from previous Evercade cartridge releases completely free to play, and previous titles in the program have been last month’s Alligator Hunt, May’s Old Towers, April’s Zool, and March’s Midnight Resistance.

Worms first appeared on Evercade on the Worms Collection 1 cartridge, which was released back in 2021, and which also featured Worms Armageddon and Worms Blast.

As you may have gathered, we’re big fans of Worms here at Retro News, having previously reported on Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, which was released in 2024 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original Worms, which, to come full circle, is this month’s Evercade Highlight of the Month!
