Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior is a new pixel art run ‘n’ gun title from developer Chaosmonger Studio, which is based on the music and art of metal band Voivod. The game is due to release on Steam in early 1017, but a new public demo for the game will include around one hour of the story mode and an action-focused combat trial mode.
The band is directly involved in the project, with Michel “Away” Langevin contributing to visual direction, Daniel “Chewy” Mongrain supervising adaptations of the band’s music, Denis “Snake” Bélanger voicing the protagonist, and Dominic “Rocky” Laroche participating in playtesting. The public demo will launch in October ahead of Steam Next Fest.
Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior is the first official video game based on the universe of the legendary Canadian metal band, transforming decades of the band’s surreal sci-fi artwork, music, and characters into a 2D metroidvania/run-and-gun adventure.
