Whimside is a new Pokémon-inspired desktop game from developer couple Toadzillart and Tadpoly alongside publisher Future Friends Games. It has been announced for release on Steam with a new trailer, and will be available on the 7th of August 2025. According to the developer, “Whimside is a cozy and relaxing creature collection game that sits at the bottom of your screen, keeping you company whether you’re working, studying, or just kicking back and watching videos.”
The game is designed to be played at a slow pace and to be a relaxing escape throughout the day. Players can combine two Whimlings to create a whole new creature, and every unique combination reveals a procedurally generated new species, which will help you unlock new biomes and decorations. As players progress, they’ll unlock a variety of decorations, empowering them to personalize their own whimsical haven.
Toadzillart and Tadpoly are the game dev couple behind Whimside, based in France, where they live with their trusty feline whimlings, black cat Oscar, and tabby Tigri. The pair have been working on Whimside since 2024 and describe it as ‘a true labor of love’.
