Wolf is a new first-person shooter for the Game Boy Color, developed by the GBC homebrew development team Rocketship Park, whose previous GBC homebrew titles were recently compiled as a single PC release by their publisher, Thalamus Digital, as we reported recently.
Wolf has been designed and coded by Shane McCafferty, who previously created a game that imagined what Out Run would have been like had it been released on the Game Boy Color, as we reported previously, and we guess Wolf is a similar project for McCafferty, but this time imagining what Wolfenstein 3D might’ve been like had it been ported to the Game Boy Color.
While the Game Boy Color may seem like an unusual choice of format on which to play a first-person shooter, don’t forget the innovative Game Boy title Faceball 2000 or the brilliant port of Doom that was released for Game Boy Color’s admittedly more powerful, younger brother, the Game Boy Advance.
Wolf will be released by publisher Thalamus Digital this Thursday (August 23, 2026), as a downloadable Game Boy Color ROM, via itch.io.
Should such things concern you, you’ll be pleased to know that Rocketship Park has confirmed that no generative AI was used in the development of Wolf.
