NES-inspired action title 1989 After The War Out Now On Consoles

1989 after the war

1989 After the War is a NES-inspired action title out now on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, priced at $5.99. The game has been developed by SEEP and published by retro specialists Rataliaka Games. The story in 1989 After the War is set after an atomic war has reduced the world to a toxic heap of ruins and chaos. Players control ex-agent Sebastian Beck and will face off against seven dangerous criminals.

They will also traverse seven levels filled with enemies and traps to overcome. The game also challenges players with a unique mechanic where the environment becomes increasingly hostile due to radiation, requiring players to reach regenerating refrigerators that serve as life-saving checkpoints. They’ll use their blade, grenades, and shotgun to fight their way through this dangerous world, in glorious 1980s arcade style.

1989 After the War uses some very NES-like presentation, in both graphics and sound departments, and looks like a great budget title for 8-bit fans. It follows up on the great work Ratalaika Games is doing in the indie budget retro scene, which helps smaller developers get their games to market and wider audiences.

  • 2D platform action shooting
  • 7 different levels each with its own boss
