Psycho Dream is a new version of the 8-bit-inspired side-scrolling action game from retro publisher Ratalaika Games and developer Shinyuden & Edia Co. It’s due for release September 5th, 2025, on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam, priced at $5.99. This game is a re-release of the original Psycho Dream, which was first launched in the 1990s for home consoles. It was also released to the Nintendo Switch Online service in 2021.

The story centres around a dangerous new trend amongst young people who are evading reality and escaping to DMovies. These virtual realities allow them to immerse themselves in the movies, but if they stay too long, they perish and die. The government has set up the Diamond Dogs to combat this trend and rescue those trapped inside.
