Piggly Pagly Boom is the latest retro-style indie game from budget games publishers Ratalaika Games, who publish many of the retro and retro-style games that we just can’t get enough of here at Retro News, such as SUGORO Quest: The Quest of Dice Heroes, and Squab, on which we have previously reported.
This latest release from Ratalaika Games is Piggly Pagly Boom, which has been developed by the indie developer 9Ratones, and which appears to be a porcine spin on the Pang formula of vertical shooting arcade puzzle action for one or two players, or as Ratalaika Games themselves put it, “wild fireballs have gone haywire, and you must shoot them down using your special hookshot.” Piggly Pagly Boom’s features include puzzle action shooting gameplay, 2D bouncing fireball physics, power-ups, and electronic dance music.
Ratalaika Games describe the gameplay of Piggly Pagly Boom as follows: “shoot the hookshot straight upwards to attach it to the ceiling, where it will stay briefly, destroying any fireballs that touch the hanging rope. Gain access to various powerups, such as freezing movement, replenishing countdown time, faster shots, upgraded defenses, and more.”
We hope to bring you a review of Piggly Pagly Boom soon, and the game will be released today (October 3rd, 2025), on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4&5, Xbox Series X|S. and Steam, priced at the wallet-friendly price of $5.99, or the local equivalent.
