Pixel Art Turn-based Title Attack Of The Astrals Announced

Attack of the Astrals is a new pixel art turn-based strategy title from developer Hewer’s Workshop. The game is set to release on Steam and other PC platforms later in 2026, but for now, the developer is seeking playtesters. Anyone interested in getting involved can apply to be a playtester via the game’s Steam page.

In Attack of the Astrals, players will command champions to battle cosmic warriors invading a fantasy realm, and master a unique tactical combat system where grid movement replaces targeting menus. Their champion trio gains a new skill with every land liberated, but the enemy upgrades with them.

Each run, players choose a champion trio of heroes and villains, with distinct skills and roles defining movement and attack area in battle. Knights target adjacent tiles, Mages target distant tiles, and Scouts target travelled tiles. Champions move once per turn, automatically unleashing an area attack and shifting other units along their path. Victories award consumable spells, map-wide effects that target based on conditions like positioning or health.

“We’re excited to share our spin on the turn-based strategy genre,” says Rob Williams, Attack of the Astrals engineer. “My favorite parts of in-person playtesting are the ‘ah ha’ moments when players realise the tactical depth possible in positioning allies, enemies, and attacks with a single move.”
