Absolum Sells 500,000 Copies As Major Content Update Announced

We last reported on Absolum, the highly acclaimed beat ’em-up from developer Dotemu, back in August 2025. Since then, news has come through that over half a million copies of the game have been sold across PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation. As well as the good news about Absolum‘s success, the developer also announced that its eagerly awaited update to the game will be released on February 12th, 2026. The update is called Threads of Fate and will offer a new game mode, challenges, items, mounts for characters, and the usual improvements around bug fixes.

In a press statement, Dotemu said. “The acclaimed reimagining of the beat ’em up genre, which combines classic fighting with dense storytelling and high replay value, has today surpassed the mark ofmore than 500,000 units sold! Absolum is Dotemu‘s first original franchise and an exciting example of how an independent developer can meaningfully expand upon classic genres and breathe new life into them.”

Key features of the Threads of Fate update:

A completely new game mode, Mystic Trials, which utilizes dozens of modifiers to offer a demanding challenge with surprises and scenarios that provide a bold contrast to the original adventure.

Deadly new dangers and rewards await in the optional corrupted regions to be discovered while exploring the incredible world of Absolum.

Exciting new rewards, mounts, and more, alongside a host of improvements.
