Little Nemo and The Guardians of Slumberland is a new 2D Metroidvania from developer Die Soft that is out now on Steam, priced at $17.99. Developed primarily by Dave Mauro and inspired by artist Winsor McCay’s work, Little Nemo and The Guardians of Slumberland transports players into the colorful, hand-animated world of Nemo’s dreams. Once a peaceful place, Slumberland has been besieged by the mysterious Oblivion, which threatens to destroy this precious world and its inhabitants. There was also news that a Nintendo Switch version will be coming at a later date.
The full version of the game includes several distinct domains to explore – each with its own thematic elements and inhabitants – ability-granting toys to collect, challenging bosses to fight, unique NPCs to befriend, and PJs to upgrade. The game is primarily designed for an approachable and accessible baseline experience, but can be ranked up for more skilled players to also enjoy. Players will be accompanied throughout the adventure by a full, unique soundtrack composed by Peter Berkman, lead guitarist and songwriter of American pop-rock band Anamaguchi.
