The Legend of Kage set to escape from the Console Archives Tomorrow

The Legend of Kage has been announced as this week’s entry in Hamster Corporation’s Console Archives line of emulated retro console titles for modern formats, following last week’s release of the NES strategy game L’Empereur, on which we reported previously.

This week’s Console Archives release, The Legend of Kage, is a hank ‘n’ slash platform game that was originally released by Taito for the Famicom in Japan 1985, before receiving a NES release in North America a year later, and while the Console Archives version of the game  is obviously the Famicom/NES version pf the game, which as usual, has been  coyly described by Hamster Corporation as “an 8-bit home console,” The Legend of Kage also received a number of 8-bit home computer ports.

Hamster Corporation describes The Legend of Kage as follows: “this is an action game where “Kage” an Iga ninja, fights in the demon realm to rescue “Kirihime” who has been kidnapped by villains. Use your sword, shuriken, and various other techniques to reach the castle of villains where “Kirihime” is being held captive.”

The Console Archives version of The Legend of Kage will be released tomorrow (June 18, 2026) on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent.
