T.R.A.G.: Tactical Rescue Assault Group – Mission of Mercy, which we will henceforth refer to simply as ‘T.R.A.G.,,’ has been announced as this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Console Archives line of classic console titles for modern formats, following last week’s release of the Famicom title Bokosuka Wars, on which we reported previously.
T.R,.A.G., which was released in Japan under the somewhat snappier title of ‘Hard Edge,’ is an action game that was originally released by Sunsoft for the PlayStation 1 back in 1998.
Hamster Corporation describes T.R.A.G. as follows: “this action game puts you in the role of a special commando unit member, tasked with rescuing scientists held captive in the Togusa Building, which has been occupied by an armed group. Your only resources are your own physical strength and honed skills.”
The Console Archives version of T.R.A.G./Hard Edge will be released tomorrow (July 2, 2026) for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, priced at $11.99 USD or the local equivalent.
Prior to tomorrow’s Console Archives release of T.R.A.G.,, the game’s most recent re-release was as part of the PS One Classics line on the PlayStation Network in Japan in 2007, making this Console Archives release the first release of T.R.A.G. in almost 20 years.
T.R.A.G. is the latest Sunsoft title to receive a modern outing, since the veteran developer/publisher was revived back in 2021.
