Commodore 64: The Birth of a Cultural Icon is a forthcoming documentary film from Gracious Films (Nicola Caulfield and Anthony Caulfield) that will celebrate Commodore’s beloved 8-bit Commodore 64 home computer.
The new documentary follows Gracious Films’ previous ZX Spectrum documentary, The Rubber-Keyed Wonder, on the crowdfunding success of which we have reported previously.
Commodore 64: The Birth of a Cultural Icon plans to cover the ever-popular machine’s journey from its original release back in 1982 to its recent revival in the form of the Commodore 64 Ultimate, on which we have reported previously.
Nicola Caulfield and Anthony Caulfield of Gracious Films say of Commodore 64: The Birth of a Cultural Icon that: “our film will journey from past to present, exploring how the Commodore 64 was created, why it became so successful, and how its legacy continues today when Peri Fractic and members of the Commodore community came together to acquire all 47 original trademarks and revive the brand globally for the next generation by releasing a brand new line of Commodore 64’s.”
At the time of writing, the Commodore 64: The Birth of a Cultural Icon Kickstarter campaign has already raised £66,386 GBP against a goal of £55,000 GBP, from 1,394 backers, with 16 days left to run on the campaign.
