Atari Retro-style Smart Watches Up For Pre-order

Atari has been on a roll of late, with new iterations of its classic consoles and computers, to remakes of classic carts, as well as new titles. The latest goodies coming from one of retro gaming’s finest institutions are a new Atari retro-inspired smartwatch. The Atari 2600 My Plat Watch doesn’t quite do everything you would expect from a modern smart watch, as it lacks Bluetooth or WiFi technology. However, it does have a built-in fitness tracker that monitors heart rate, steps, and calories burned throughout your day.

The real boon here for Atari fans is the included mini versions of four classic Atari 2600 titles. Centipede, Missile Command, Pong, and Super Breakout are all playable directly on the watch face. Furthermore, the crown and button have been customized to look and feel like classic controller buttons, and the rotating crown operates like a paddle controller. Each watch comes complete with two colourful straps so you can customise your look. As a bonus, those who get their orders in early will receive a third strap inspired by Missile Command.

The watch is currently only available in the USA and Canada, priced at $80, which will disappoint Atari fans from further afield, but hopefully, a worldwide release will happen at some time in the future.
