Batty Remake Smashes onto PC

Batty remake bat, ball and bricks

Batty is an Arkanoid-inspired game originally published by Elite and initially released on ZX Spectrum via a cover-mounted cassette on the magazine Your Sinclair in 1987, with releases following days later on the 6-Pak Vol. 2 compilation also for the ZX Spectrum, as well as for the Commodore 64 and Amstrad CPC.

Despite being highly derivative of Taito’s Arkanoid, Batty was highly regarded at the time, and a homebrew coder has now  created a PC remake of the game, giving modern gamers the chance to enjoy this classic 8-bit title.

The new PC remake of Batty by homebrew coder Space-Time Games includes all 15 levels from the ZX Spectrum version and a further 64 levels from the Commodore 64 version.

The new PC remake of Batty is available as a free download from itch.io.

One word of warning for anyone intending to try out the PC remake of Batty: the developer admits that “it’s still quite bug ridden in places, but hopefully enjoyable enough to play!”

Space-Time Games has previously remade a number of other 8-bit home computer games for modern PCs, including The Trap Door, Olli & Lissa, Sabre Wulf, and a Jet Set Willy clone titled Willy’s Miner Nightmare, along with others, all of which are also available from Spec-Time Games’s itch.io page, along with the new Batty remake.
