Hand-drawn Side-scroller Constance Updated Demo and Release Date

Constance

Constance is a new side-scrolling action title from developer Blue Backpack Games and co-published by ByteRockers Games and Parco Games. It’s due for release on Steam on November 24th, 2025, and has an updated demo out now to coincide with Steam Next Fest. Constance will also be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 at a later date.

The game uses 2D hand-drawn art and is a metroidvania that’s won comparisons to the likes of Hollow Knight and Celeste thanks to its flow-state platforming and combat, and mental health themes. While the artwork looks stunning, there are also some unique gameplay ideas to enjoy. Constance can transform into paint to dive into the ground and walls, slice through the air and enemies, and utilize an array of unique brush techniques to experience a constant state of flow.

Players become stronger by unlocking new brush techniques, defeating threatening foes, overcoming platforming challenges, and solving complex puzzles to advance their progress as players uncover Constance’s past. They’ll help her understand her personal struggles, unlock her creativity, and find her inner purpose.

Blue Backpack’s upcoming narrative adventure, The Berlin Apartment, coming to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on 17th November, also has a demo available on Steam that players can check out now.
