D-Day is this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives line of weekly emulated arcade titles for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
And just like the previous two releases in the Arcade Archives line: Stinger, and Field Day, with D-Day, Hamster Corporation are taking us over 40 years back in time, as D-Day was originally released into arcades by Jaleco way back in 1984.
As the title might suggest, D-Day is a World War 2-based vertically scrolling shoot ‘em up in the vein of Capcom’s 1942, which was also released in the same year. D-Day can be played by either one or two players.
Hamster Corporation says of D-Day: “Your mission is to pilot your battleship, fending off enemy battleships and bombers, and destroy the enemy fortress.
Today is the day the operation is to take place. The longest day begins…”
The Arcade Archives version of D-Day was released onto the Nintendo Store and PlayStation Store today (August 7th, 2025),
D-Day retails at the usual Arcade Archives price of $7.99 (or local equivalent).
With such a varied array of releases, Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives line really is a treat for any retro gamer interested in the history of arcade games, or even for those who just enjoy playing a wide range of retro titles.
