Donut Dodo, a colorful 80s arcade style single-screen platformer by developer Pixel Games, is set to receive a physical release on Nintendo 64, should the project’s upcoming Kickstarter campaign prove successful.
Donut Dodo has previously been released on a number of formats, including PC, Nintendo Switch, Atari VCS, and Evercade, and as we previously, reported, a sequel to the game , to be titled Donut Dodo Fantistico is in the works for a planned Steam release.
The game’s developer, Pixel Games, describes Donut Dodo as: “a fast-paced arcade platformer inspired by the golden age of coin-op classics from Namco and Nintendo,” adding that “what started as a personal love letter to those early games gradually evolved into a fully-fledged arcade-style experience for modern systems.”
Pixel Games went on to say that: “for the Nintendo 64 version, the game was rebuilt from scratch in C to run on original hardware, staying true to the spirit of classic “home conversions,” while adding new modes and features.”
While the Donut Dodo N64 Kickstarter campaign has not yet been launched, if you’re interested in getting this great retro platform game for our Nintendo 64, you can sign up to be notified on the Kickstarter campaign’s launch now. I seems that work on the Nintendo 64 version of Donut Dodo is complete, and the Kickstarter campaign is being run to raise funds for production of the physical release of the game. A Dreamcast version of Donut Dodo is also planned for the future.
