Fallen Tear: The Ascension is a new Metroidvania that will be released on Steam early access on March 17th, 2026, priced at $19.99. Developer CMD Studios has said that the first release will contain 15-20 hours of content at launch, with more to follow. The graphics have been hand-drawn and described by the developer as “meticulous”. The game also features full voice acting and the “beloved” JRPG mechanics that fans of the genre would look for. There are also lots of surprises to encounter across the ten interconnected regions, and players’ actions directly affect world events.
In a press statement, CMD Studios said. “Fallen Tear: The Ascension brings ally-Focused Metroidvania action to Steam Early Access. Forge fated bonds, harness your allies’ powers, and face ancient gods in a stunningly hand-animated sidescrolling Metroidvania, where the world itself transforms around you.”
Fallen Tear: The Ascension puts players in the shoes of Hira, a mysterious child tasked with facing ancient gods across the lush, ever-changing world of Raoah. As players explore, they’ll befriend allies and form Fated Bonds, harnessing their unique abilities in both combat and traversal and unleashing their combined might with a powerful Fated Rush attack. It sounds like an exciting development that we will continue to report on.
