Flea!, the 8-bit homebrew platformer developed by LowTek Games, will be hopping onto the Vectrex Mini, but it won’t be one of the built-in games, most of which are still unknown, but on two of which we’ve reported previously.
Flea! was originally developed for the NES, and it was self-published by LowTek Games, who released the game digitally and physically on NES and physically on Dreamcast. The game also hopped onto Evercade, as we have reported previously.
And now, the latest machine to host Flea! will be the Vectrex Mini, as revealed during last week’s Gamescom 2026, where Flea! was playable on the machine.
Flea! will be one of a selection of homebrew games that will be made available ia the Vectrex Mini Season Pass, which Vectrex says has been: “designed to put each game and its creator in the spotlight.”
As with so many homebrew games, the initial development and production of Flea! for NES was funded via Kickstarter, and funds to produce the Vextrex Mini console itself were also raised via (an incredibly successful) Kickstarter campaign, as we also reported previously.
It’s interesting that the Vectrex Mini will be receiving post-launch additions to its catalog, unlike most of the other mini consoles on the markets, whose games are limited to the on-board titles with which they ship (unless they’re modded, of course!)
