Back in September 2024, we brought you the news that Forge of Fae, a new retro-inspired JRPG, was getting ready for launch in 2026. Since then, developer Datadyne has pushed the release back to 2027, but has found a publisher. Deck13 Spotlight has announced its involvement with a new trailer showing more gameplay and a new Steam demo. Forge of Fae is set to release on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch as well.

Set in a world inspired by 19th-century Ireland, Forge of the Fae plunges players into a beautifully crafted narrative where humans and fae are at odds. As an ancient power awakens and tensions rise, players will follow the journey of Fiora, a young inventor, as she uncovers the secrets of her world while navigating a complex mystery and discovering who she can become.

Decisions made will influence the outcome, giving players control over the story’s direction and creating a more personal experience. Drawing inspiration from classic JRPGs, Forge of the Fae features a deep turn-based combat system where strategy reigns supreme. Players will be challenged to master the “ARC Crystal System” and “Adrenaline” systems, which offer versatile, customizable spells and abilities, adding depth and excitement to combat.

Forge of the Fae is a perfect match for us”, says Michael Hoss, Head of Product at Deck13 Spotlight. “Even in its early stages it is incredibly well crafted and pulls all the right triggers. Working with Datadyne over the last couple of weeks also showed us what an amazing team is building this masterpiece.”

“We have found a reliable partner with Deck13 Spotlight”, added David Schooley from Datadyne. ”Not only do they fully understand the vision of the game, but they also know the JRPG market so well. We are super excited for the upcoming journey.”
