GameStop Removes Game Informer from Its Records, Fans Commit to Preserving Its Online Legacy

Game Informer, a magazine that had been in publication for 33 years, has been shut down by its parent company, GameStop. The closure was announced via a brief social media statement, followed by a removed heartfelt message from the magazine’s dismissed staff. All previously published content has been deleted, leaving only the corporate announcement on the now-defunct website. While GameStop has shown little respect for the magazine’s legacy, fans have taken initiative by creating a comprehensive archive of Game Informer issues on Retromags.com, preserving issues from the magazine’s inception up to December 2014.

I'm Mubarak AlSabah, born in '87, and I'm a big fan of retro games. I’ve been gaming since '93, so it's been a lifelong passion for me. Collecting retro games is my favorite hobby, and I have a great collection that takes you back in time. In addition to gaming, I also have 830+ premium domain names, which is another hobby that I love just as much. I started collecting domains in '97, combining my interest in the digital world with my love for nostalgic gaming.
