Gee Bee Smashes Out of the Arcade Archives

Gee Bee is this week’s release in the Arcade Archives line, Hamster Corporation’s weekly line of emulated arcade titles for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

As we reported previously, last week’s Arcade Archives release, Dacholer, did not receive a simultaneous Arcade Archives 2 release for Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, but this week’s release of Gee Bee has done.

Thankfully, Gee Bee is not a game based on overly zealous patriots from Great Britain, and nor is it a game about a high-voiced male singing ensemble (like the Bee Gees, do you see?)
No, Gee Bee is actually a block breaking game that was originally released into arcades by Namco way back in 1978, the very year that this particular Retro News writer was born, so it’s very old, indeed!

Hamster Corporation say that Gee Bee “gained popularity for its unique gameplay that adds pinball elements to a classic block-breaker, ” also noting that “the Arcade Archives version supports mouse controls, making it even easier to play.”

Gee Bee is out today on the Nintendo Store, PS Store, and Microsoft Store, with the Arcade Archives version priced at $7.99, and the Arcade Archives 2 version priced at $9.99. Purchasers of the Arcade Archives version will also be able to upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version for $2.99.
