Hardcourt Balls is a new retro-inspired turn-based tennis simulator from debut solo developer Untitled Software. It’s due for release on Steam at a later date in 2026, but a new trailer gives budding tennis aces a glimpse of the interesting mechanics the game will offer on release.
The developer has described Hardcourt Balls as “fast-paced turn-based tennis” and that “it attempts to capture some of the nuances and excitement that make tennis such a great sport, and professional tennis players such outstanding athletes”. In the game, players will use rolls of the dice and tactical skill cards to create their next shot. They’ll also create their own avatar and play in Exhibition Matches, Tournaments, or even full Season and Career Modes.
Once the match is over, the players will gain experience, earn prize money, hire coaches, and improve their skills and abilities. We don’t know if there’ll be any other modes or online play as of yet, but this certainly looks like an exciting title for sports fans who like to dabble in strategy and deckbuilding. We’ll be sure to keep our racket strings pulled tight and bring you any further news on Hardcourt Balls as it serves into play.
