I Want Your Castle is a new retro board-game inspired turn-based strategy title from brand new developer Heirloom Studio. Founded in 2025, Heirloom Interactive is a small independent game studio based in Sweden. The team consists of experienced developers from successful indie and AAA companies. The team is now gearing up to release its first game, with I Want Your Castle taking the crowdfunding route on Kickstarter later this year.

A new teaser trailer gives a small glimpse of what can be expected in the game, with the developer stating it’s “inspired by old school turn-based strategy classics”. I Want Your Castle will combine single-player strategy gameplay with adventure board game mechanics. “This is a passion project where we’re taking aspects from board games we loved growing up, and meshing them with deep strategic gameplay,” said Jakob Tuchten, Heirloom’s co-founder. 

The teaser also shows off a hand-painted 2d art style, and explains the game will be a homage to the fantasy of yesteryear. “We’re sending a love letter to the era of fantasy aesthetics when your hero looked more like a dork and less like a fashion model,” added Tuchten. This certainly looks to be an exciting project for retro strategy fans, and we’ll bring you more details as they come in.
