A new Jetpac game has been developed for modern Windows thanks to Sinclair Spectrum fan Richard Langford, who runs Langford Productions. The new version has many new features that change the gameplay as well as the look of the original game. It can be downloaded from the game’s itch.io page. Jetpac was released by Rare, then known as Ultimate Play the Game, in 1094 for 8-bit computers.
In a post on a Spectrum Facebook group, Richard said. “I was requested to try a Windows remake of Jetpac. As it’s quite a simple game that’s been remade so many times before, I wasn’t going to bother – but then I decided to give it a go and add lots of new options.”
Key features:
Three graphic styles: Spectrum, high colour Spectrum, and HD, which are switchable in-game. Spectrum also includes the original Spectrum sound.
The option to allow the fuel drops to be shot (makes the game slightly harder)
Optional Lunar Jetman base. Makes the game a fair bit harder and includes a time limit to complete each screen
Swap out all the enemies for the enemies of Cookie and Pssst! Just for fun and a bit of a change.
TV scanlines and window / full screen option
