Kirby Gets Saucy with Kirby Ketchup

Kirby ketchup

Kirby ketchup is coming from Heinz Japan, according to a post on X in which Heinz Japan states that it will be releasing limited quantities of “upside-down” bottles of Heinz Tomato Ketchup featuring three types of Kirby, plus Waddle-Dee, starting from this month.

Unfortunately for us gaming sauce aficionados outside of Japan, there do not seem to be any plans for a worldwide release of Kirby ketchup from Heinz.

Kirby has a long history, with his first game dating back to 1992, when Kirby’s Dream Land was released for the Nintendo Game Boy. However, Kirby’s 33-year history pales in comparison when compared to the history of Heinz Tomato Ketchup, which was first released in 1876, almost 150 years ago!

Heinz Japan had this to say on the Kirby ketchup collaboration: “In the game of the “Star Kirby” series, the item that fully recovers the character’s physical strength, Maxim Tomatoes, will appear. The collaboration with Heinz, the brand of Tomato Ketchup No. 1, has been realized again with the common keyword “tomato”. The newly released Heinz “Tomato Ketchup upside-down bottle” and “Kirby of the stars” collaboration ketchup bottle is designed with Kirby and Waddle-Dee. The three kinds of packages with Kirby and Waddle-Dee, with tomatoes and hamburgers in the keystone, which is the symbol of Heinz, are all cute things you want.”

This isn’t the first time that Heinz Japan have offered Kirby ketchup, having offered a similar team-up last year, of which Heinz Japan had this to say: “Last year, when Kirby appeared on the tomato ketchup package in the pouch packaging, “#Heinz Kirby Collaboration” in X became the trend number one, and not only Kirby fans but also many responses were received. And in the Heinz brand icon “Tomato Ketchup upside-down bottle”, all three kinds of “Star Kirby” designs will appear.”
