The Last Ninja Collection is set for release on November 27, 2025, on Steam, with ports for Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox coming soon after. The collection of classic 8-bit computer titles originated as a Kickstarter campaign and is now being released as part of publisher System 3’s 43rd anniversary celebrations. Founded in 1982, System 3 is the world’s longest-running independent developer and publisher-branded video game label.
In a press statement, System 3 said that The Last Ninja Collection “allows players to relive the magic of the 1980s and 1990s through authentic emulations of the original Commodore 64, Amiga, and Spectrum releases”. The collection contains The Last Ninja, Last Ninja 2, Last Ninja 3, and Ninja Remix. The pack also includes a few bonus games: International Karate, IK+, and Bangkok Knights.
“System 3 was founded on creativity, quality, and independence,” said Mark Cale, founder and CEO of System 3. “Forty-three years later, those values still define us. The label has never been sold, merged, or diluted, and that’s what makes System 3 unique. Every game we create or bring back to life is truly ours, built with the same care and spirit that started this journey for me in 1982.”
The news of The Last Ninja Collection wasn’t the only news to be coming out from System 3 during this celebration. The legendary publisher also announced that a James Pond collection is also in the works, titled James Pond: The Pond Is Not Enough. The release includes faithfully emulated versions of the original Sega, SNES, and Amiga titles, preserving their classic gameplay exactly as players remember them. It will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2 at a date yet to be revealed.
