Following on from the Lego NES, the Lego Game Boy (on which we reported previously), and the Lego arcade machine, on which we also reported previously, Lego has teamed up with Sega to offer their 16-bit powerhouse in brick form, with the announcement of the Lego Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.
Set for release on June 1st 2026, the Lego Sega Genesis/Mega Drive will cost $39.99 USD or local equivalent, and it will consist of a total of 479 pieces.
The console can be built in either its Sega Genesis (US) or Sega Mega Drive (Japan/EU) form.
In addition to the console itself, the Lego Sega Genesis/Mega Drive set will include two detachable Lego controllers, a game cartridge, stickers, and a Sonic the Hedgehog portrait as an Easter egg.
The Lego Sega Genesis/Mega Drive set measures over 1.5 in. (4 cm) high, 6 in (16 cm) wide and 4.5 in (12 cm) deep, while the controllers measure over 1 in. (2 cm) high, 3 in (8 cm) wide and 9.5 in. (24cm), and it will be available to purchase direct from the Lego website, as well as from Lego retailers. The set is recommended for ages 12 and over, and its set number is 40926. The Lego Sega Genesis/Mega Drive is the kind of “bricked” console we wouldn’t mind owning!
