Mega Zone, a 1983 vertically scrolling shoot ‘em up by Konami, has been confirmed as this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated coin-op titles, following on from last week’s release of Top Speed, which we reported on at the time.

Hamster Corporation describes Mega Zone as follows: “Pilot your tank and head for the enemy base with the goal of destroying the core hidden in its deepest depths.
By collecting items, two tanks can combine to power up. Gain the strength you need to prepare for the battle against an unknown enemy!”

Despite Mega Zone being well over 40 years old, the game does not appear to have received a home release – until now, that is!

The Arcade Archives version of Mega Zone will fly onto Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 tomorrow (February 12, 2026), priced at $7.99 USD.

Meanwhile, the Arcade Archives 2 version of Mega Zone will blast onto Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, priced at $9.99 USD.

Hamster Corporation has certainly been busy of late, maintaining their weekly Arcade Archives releases, as well as introducing the new Console Archives line, on which we reported last week.

Hamster Corporation has also revealed that the Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 title to be released in two weeks’ time will be the home debut of Rave Racer, as we reported yesterday.
