Primal Fray is a new turn-based strategy title from developer Tymoteusz Pietruszka and publisher Black Lanter Collective due to be released on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch on November 24th, 2025. There is currently a demo available on the game’s Steam page.
In Primal Fray, players will build a team of primals and collect buffs to find their way through the Rift, defeating smart enemies and deadly bosses. All combat takes place on procedurally generated, hex-based, flying islands, where they’ll need to make the most of their roster of unique units to outmanoeuvre their enemies and set up deadly combos.
“The main game is mostly about working with randomness and making the best of subpar decisions you can make. Here, you can draft whatever team you desire. I consider myself to be quite good at the game, but playing PVP makes even my brain melt.” Says Tymoteusz Pietruszka.
Key features in Primal Fray:
New Recruits: You can choose between a variety of heroes that each come with their own talents and backstory
The Choice is Yours: Difficult choices will need to be made as you plan your way through the Rift. You may need to choose to abandon adding a new primal to your roster, in order to heal your team, or maybe you take the risk?
Abilities to Last a Lifetime: Each primal comes with four different abilities that vary in their strength and use. This means over 200 abilities to use in total!
Manage Your Resources: Your abilities may cost mana or produce mana, which means you have to be strategic about how you use it. Spend, or gain it wisely.
