Rare Games coming to Evercade

Rare Collection 1 Evercade packshot

Yes, that is Rare as in the Microsoft-owned British developer! Blaze Entertainment consistently punch above their weight in securing big-name releases for their Evercade retro gaming system, such as the Neo Geo products on which we previously reported, and now, in what may seem like an unlikely team-up, Blaze Entertainment has announced that an Evercade collection of retro games by the developer Rare is coming to Evercade, which will include several games released way back in the 8-bit days when Rare still went by the name ‘Ultimate Play the Game’.

Being released to celebrate Rare’s 40th anniversary, the Rare Collection 1 cartridge will include a total of 12 games, which are: Jetpac (ZX Spectrum), Lunar Jetman (ZX Spectrum), Atic Attack (ZX Spectrum), Sabre Wulf (ZX Spectrum), Underwurlde (Commodore 64), Knight Lore (ZX Spectrum), Gunfright (ZX Spectrum), Battletoads (NES), R.C. Pro-Am (NES), Cobra Triangle (NES), Battletoads Arcade (arcade), and Conker’s Pocket Tales (Game Boy Color).

“Rare’s early games represent an incredible legacy of experimentation and charm,” said Blaze Entertainment Ltd.’s CEO, Andrew Byatt. “From their earliest Spectrum titles to their later arcade and handheld hits, Rare Collection 1 is our tribute to their evolution and an exciting way for new and old fans alike to rediscover these classics.”

Notably, Rare Collection 1 will be the first Evercade release to feature ZX Spectrum games amongst its titles.
Pre-orders for Rare Collection 1 will open in September 2025, ready for release in November 2025.
