Excellent Super Xevious is out on Arcade Archives

Continuing its excellent line-up of arcade classics, Hamster Co. have brought Super Xevious to its ever-growing Arcade Archives range. Released this week on the Switch and PlayStation stores, priced at £7.99, Super Xevious was originally released to arcades in 1984 by Namco. As with all other Arcade Archives titles, players can upload their scores to online leaderboards and play about with settings to create their own perfect experience of the game. The release of Super Xevious follows up on last week’s announcement that Pinball Action has also been released.

The game is a ‘super’ version of the original Xevious that changes enemy placement and includes additional foes to fight. The game is also overall much harder than the first game and will provide a challenge to even the most hardened shooter veteran. In Super Xevious, players take control of pilot Solvalou as they fight the evil forces of Xevious. There are two weapon types, a zapper to take down airborne units and a blaster to attack ground units. There is also a two-player option with each one alternating following a death.
