Tanglewood was a huge hit for developer Big Evil Corporation when it landed on Genesis in 2028. The pixel art platformer was also released on PC, and many players and critics felt it was a masterpiece that would’ve been incredible to see back when the Genesis was current. Since the initial release, Tanglewood has also been ported to Evercade, and there was news that a Dreamcast version was in the works.
Now, Big Evil Corporation has announced that Tanglewood will be released on Nintendo Switch on December 16th, 2025, and will include many new features not seen before. This definitive release features many enhancements, including widescreen support, high-quality audio, new levels, achievements, and an all-new storybook mode that tells the tale of Tanglewood and how it came to be. This is sure to impress Switch players, and we’re sure this will be a big success.
The blurb on the Nintendo store says everything Switch players will love about this excellent title. “Tanglewood is a true 16-bit game, originally designed and programmed on 90’s hardware, and is a love letter to the golden age of pixel art gaming. The game spans eight story chapters, hand-crafted pixel art with fluid animation, an original soundtrack by Freezedream, and many secrets, achievements, and collectibles.”
