We first reported on TetherGeist, a new precision platformer from developer O. and Co. Games, in October 2025. A new gameplay trailer and demo for the Steam version raised our eyebrows, but now a Switch port of the pixel art platformer has been announced. There is still no concrete release date for either version, but TetherGeist feels like the perfect game to get a Switch port.
TetherGeist centers on responsive platforming driven by Mae’s Astral Projection, a spiritual ability that lets her extend herself beyond her body and solve movement challenges in unexpected ways. Frequent checkpoints and carefully tuned controls make failure a meaningful part of learning, encouraging experimentation, exploration, and thoughtful problem-solving at every turn.
Key features:
A Platformer About Growth, Not Combat: Every challenge in TetherGeist is overcome through timing, momentum, and careful movement in this combat-free adventure.
Astral Projection as Expressive Mastery: Mae uses Bao to project her spirit, navigating the world in inventive ways. Each chapter adds new movement mechanics to explore with.
Challenging but Supportive Design: Frequent checkpoints and instant retries keep the experience forgiving, encouraging experimentation and progress.
Representation Matters: The game addresses disability, social dynamics, and spirituality. Mae’s motor disability shapes her journey, Foyal wrestles with faith, and NPCs reflect diverse cultures, identities, and classes. Many were designed with Kickstarter backers.
Characters That Resonate: The heart of TetherGeist is its people. Players meet NPCs with rich personalities, diverse backgrounds, and meaningful struggles. Relationships, interactions, and choices bring depth to the world, making each encounter memorable.
