The Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest is an upcoming pixel art metroidvania title from developer Elden Pixel, known for its work on the classic adventure Alwa’s Legacy. There is still no news of a firm release date, but there is a new Steam demo, released to coincide with the latest Steam Next Fest. Elden Pixels describe The Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest as “classic 2D pixel-art metroidvania, packed with secrets, shortcuts, and strange surprises.”
The game is a comedy romp seen through the eyes of Fletcher Howie Jr., a developer hanging on by a thread during the final stages of a massive project. After a post-crunch therapy session goes sideways, Fletcher finds himself trapped in his subconscious, where he’ll double-jump through trauma and shoot his inner demons. To celebrate the demo’s release, Elden Pixels has prepared a new gameplay trailer, offering a view of Fletcher’s fractured psyche.
The Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest demo will allow players to explore part of the starting zone and one full level of the game. It also includes a few moves right from the get-go to get players started, and will allow them to tackle the first boss in the game, who is a huge shark. This certainly looks like a fun title to keep on the radar, especially if Elden Pixel’s earlier titles are anything to go by.
