Tokyo Wars is this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated arcade games for modern consoles. The release of Tokyo Wars follows last week’s release of Scion, on which we previously reported.
This week’s game has been described by Hamster Corporation as an “action shooter,” and it was originally released into arcades by Namco in 1996. Hamster Corporation adds that in the game you will , “join the tank unit of the Green force or the White force and engage in battle through realistic city streets.”
The game was released today (November 6th, 2025), with the Arcade Archives version being available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, at the slightly higher than usual price of $14.99, with the Arcade Archives 2 version of the game being released for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, also at a slightly higher than usual price, of $16.99. As usual, purchasers of the Arcade Archives release on Nintendo Switch can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version on Nintendo Switch 2 for $2.99, and purchasers of the Arcade Archives version on PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version on PlayStation 5 for $2.99.
These release of Tokyo Wars are the first time the game has been released for home formats, despite the game hitting arcades almost 30 years ago!
