Classic Toy Story Titles Head to Modern Formats with Toy Story: Retro Roundup! & Toy Story 3 Complete Edition

Digital Eclipse and Atari today announced two new releases celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pixar’s ever-popular Toy Story franchise.

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! has been described as the “definitive collection of classic Toy Story-era games, “and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition is a modern remaster of 2010’s Toy Story 3 game.

The games included on Toy Story: Retro Roundup! Will be: Toy Story (1995), Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! (1999), Toy Story 2 (1999), Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (2000), and Toy Story Racer (2001), along with a bonus game – A Bug’s Life (1998). The collection brings together titles originally released across PlayStation, SNES, and  Game Boy amongst other platforms, many of which have been unavailable or difficult to access on modern hardware.

Key features of the collection include: rewind functionality; the ability to save and load anytime; cheat codes; a practice mode; modernized ‘how to play’ guides with fully localized instructions adapted for modern systems; and enhanced visuals with classic options: with the ability to switch between upgraded, high resolution visuals and the original retro-style visuals.

In addition to the games themselves, Toy Story: Retro Roundup! also includes a selection of archival content, with all-new behind the scenes interviews featuring rare development materials, archival imagery and insights into both the films and games (including A Bug’s Life).

Collections of retro titles based on beloved animations of yesteryear seem to hit all the right nostalgia buttons for retro gamers, as we’ve previously reported on similar collections for other 1990s animations, namely Rugrats and Ren & Stimpy.

I'm a retro gamer and writer who writes about video games for online and print outlets. My love of gaming began way back in 1986 with the ZX Spectrum, before becoming a lifelong Nintendo fan in 1990 with the Game Boy. And although I keep up with modern gaming, we all know you can't beat retro classics (or maybe I'm just old!) https://x.com/paultwist
