Valiant Tactics is a new hex-based turn-based strategy title from developers Felid Entertainment and indie.io. It’s out now on Steam, priced at US$11.99, with a 20% discount for early bird gamers. The developers describe the game as one where players will “master tactics and free the land in a fantasy game, perfecting turn-based combat”. They also say that Valiant Tactics is “a turn-based tactical RPG roguelite that refines classic gameplay, combining with a modern edge”.

This strategic layer of Valiant Tactics is complemented by choices made on the trail: After each battle, players choose between three options on how to continue. These may be combat encounters of varying complexity and environmental effects that can dramatically alter the gameplay, random events that can alter the party’s journey for better or worse, or options to shop, upgrade, or simply rest.

In a press statement, the developers said. “Combat is the heart of Valiant Tactics, refining the hex-based turn-based experience. Every attack connects and deals damage, turning health into a precious resource and giving every point of damage dealt or blocked vital importance. Every choice made by the players feeds into combat performance, from the equipment their heroes carry into battle, through their classes and upgrades, to decisions made on the trail that can make or break a run.”
