The Vectrex Mini is the forthcoming “mini” version of the cult vector-bssed 1980s console, the Vectrex, which was revealed last month at Gamescom, and on which we have previously reported.
Now it has been confirmed that Vectrex will be seeking funds via Kickstarter to make the Vectrex Mini a reality. The actual Kickstarter campaign does not begin until November 3, 2025, but you can register to be notified of the campaign’s launch right now.
The original Vectrex console launched in 1982, and while it was not much of commercial success, it has remained a firm favorite with gamers and collectors, so giving the retro gamers of today the chance to experience the games of this unique console is an intriguing prospect indeed.
The Vectrex Mini, the new modern iteration of the Vectrex, will boast features including 12 built-in games, a five-inch AMOLED screen, USB-C power, and Bluetooth controller compatibility.
Registrations for the Vectrex Mini Kickstarter launch notification opened yesterday, and the project already has 1,096 followers at the time of writing, so clearly the appetite for the Vectrex Mini is there! Could it possibly be as big a crowdfunding success as the G’aime Time Crisis lightgun on which we previously reported? Or maybe even bigger? We’ll certainly be keeping our eye on the Vectrex Mini’s progress here at Retro News.
If you’re in the UK, you could even have the chance to see the Vectrex Mini for yourself at Play Expo in Blackpool on October 4th and 5th, 2025.
