Nothing screams retro more than a new GameBoy title. Yosei Wars is a new GameBoy title developed by Nekete Games using the brilliant GB Studio toolset. The arcade platformer has been described by Spanish retro publisher RAWRLAB Games as a “micro indie” title that will be released on Steam on the 5th of June 2025. There are also plans to bring Yosei Wars to Switch and Switch 2 in the future, although no precise date has been scheduled as of yet.
In a press statement, RAWRLAB Games said Yosei Wars is “an arcade platformer in GameBoy format with charming characters inspired by many arcade classics. Jump, dodge, and grab every tooth in a level to unleash a powerful lightning blast and save the captured fairy!”
Yosei Wars will include 36 levels with six boss fights, cute pixel art, and a chiptune soundtrack. There will also be lots of extras to add some value, such as an art gallery, a music player, and prototypes of the game to explore. Yosei Wars will cost $4.99 on release with a 20% discount during the first week of release on Steam.
