Comix Zero to Save the Day on PC & Consoles

Do you remember Comix Zone on the Sega Genesis? Well, Comix Zero isn’t quite the same thing, but it might scratch any nostalgic itch you may have for that particular game.

Like Comix Zone, the action in Comix Zero takes place in the pages of a comic book. Indeed the game’s developers, Bear Games cite Comix Zone as a direct influence on Comix Zero, while also being keen to emphasize the game’s originality by describing Comix Zero as “the world’s first comixvania,” going on to describe Comix Zero as “a genre-bending ‘comixvania’ adventure set within the pages of an interactive comic book.”

In Comix Zero, players jump between panels, break through page borders, and fight by draining enemies of ink. Combining Metroidvania exploration with Elden Ring-inspired progression, Comix Zero builds an open world with no gated progression. But there’s a twist: each time players die, the protagonist loses a piece of his memory, altering character relationships and reshaping the story.

There is already a Steam page for Comix Zero, and the game will also be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The release date is yet to be announced, but if you have fond memories of Comix Zone, then Comix Zero’s virtual pages could well be worth exploring when the game is released.
